Fundraising and training for the Half Marathon.

Next month I will be running the Worthing Half Marathon and raising money for Kidney Research UK.

Two years ago my Dad had a double kidney transplant after spending so many years on dialysis. I watched him gain his health and strength back and now I think it’s time for me to give back.

Running a half marathon is something I have always wanted to do, and when I signed up in October it was only natural for me to want to fundraise for a kidney charity.

I chose Kidney Research UK because the money they raise goes towards finding a cure and finding better treatments for people who have kidney disease.

More than 6,000 people, that’s around 90% of the total organ waiting list, are waiting for a kidney, yet less than 3,000 transplants are carried out each year.

3,000 people a year die while on dialysis and more than 350 people a year die while waiting for a kidney transplant, that’s one person every day.

My dad was given a new lease of life and now I want to raise as much money as I can to support the charity that can give someone else the same.

Kidney Research UK were kind enough to send me a running vest and fundraising pack and Jamie bought me some new running gear to get me motivated!

I have been training since the beginning of November and I am aiming to finish in 2hrs 15 minutes! With only 4 weeks to go as long as I can maintain my pace I should achieve my time!

I will be running alongside (or maybe slightly ahead) my mum and my fundraising goal is £150. I would love to meet this target and would be extremely grateful if you could support, share or even donate to the cause.

Making Smoothies with Easyblend.

A few weeks ago Jamie and I received a Morphy Richards Easyblender for Christmas from his mum. As soon as we got it I was eager to start using it straight away, so we went to the supermarket and stocked up on fruit and veg.Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Under the instruction of my boyfriend I cut up a handful of strawberries and kiwi and alongside added half a cup of apple juice and a couple of ice cubes into the Easyblend container.

I filled the cup up to 600ml and then blended for a couple or minutes.

The blender comes with two of these style containers with lids included so you can take your smoothie on the go. I decided to pour some in the takeaway cup for the next day, and share some out into these cute glasses to accompany lunch.  Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

The Easyblender creates little mess and it comes with a booklet that includes different smoothie and cocktail recipes. You can use it to make protein shakes and frappes and the instructions are easy to understand.

I’m really looking forward to experimenting with other flavours and ingrediants. Feel free to share your favourite smoothies below! Happy blending everyone! me morphy richards
