Fundraising and training for the Half Marathon.

Next month I will be running the Worthing Half Marathon and raising money for Kidney Research UK.

Two years ago my Dad had a double kidney transplant after spending so many years on dialysis. I watched him gain his health and strength back and now I think it’s time for me to give back.

Running a half marathon is something I have always wanted to do, and when I signed up in October it was only natural for me to want to fundraise for a kidney charity.

I chose Kidney Research UK because the money they raise goes towards finding a cure and finding better treatments for people who have kidney disease.

More than 6,000 people, that’s around 90% of the total organ waiting list, are waiting for a kidney, yet less than 3,000 transplants are carried out each year.

3,000 people a year die while on dialysis and more than 350 people a year die while waiting for a kidney transplant, that’s one person every day.

My dad was given a new lease of life and now I want to raise as much money as I can to support the charity that can give someone else the same.

Kidney Research UK were kind enough to send me a running vest and fundraising pack and Jamie bought me some new running gear to get me motivated!

I have been training since the beginning of November and I am aiming to finish in 2hrs 15 minutes! With only 4 weeks to go as long as I can maintain my pace I should achieve my time!

I will be running alongside (or maybe slightly ahead) my mum and my fundraising goal is £150. I would love to meet this target and would be extremely grateful if you could support, share or even donate to the cause.

Thanks,

Gee
